Autobiography of an American Teacher: Volume 1

Autor D. J. Wright
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 2 aug 2018
There are four main reasons I decided to write this book. The first is because there are many people telling the media who is to blame and how to fix American education. The problem is, most have no credible, full-time classroom teaching experience. In America, any person can claim education know-how, except the only real education experts--actual classroom teachers. Therefore, all the people, with no teaching experience, sounding-off in the mediascape, are usually wrong. Second, I want America to realize the grossly inferior caliber of persons making decisions that dictate what, how, and when things are taught in American classrooms. They have created a cataclysmic riff between what students need and what education leadership demands. This riff is primarily due to the ineffective, multi-billion-dollar, failed education programs, that are continually sold to American school systems. Third, American education leadership does not care about American students--it cares about the money it makes off the ineffective, multi-billion-dollar, failed education programs, that are continually sold to American school systems. And most importantly, the fourth reason is because the real victims in all of this are American students. Their chances of having truly great teachers will soon be a pipe-dream. Education leadership does not want dynamic, capable, creative teachers and in today's political climate, is unafraid to go after the ones who are. However, in their efforts to ruin teachers, they also ruin the education of students.
