HERBERT N. FOERSTEL is author of Surveillance in the Stacks (Greenwood, 1991), Secret Science (Praeger, 1993), Banned in the U.S.A.: A Reference Guide to Book Censorship in Schools and Public Libraries (Greenwood, 1994), Climbing the Hill (Praeger, 1996), and Free Expression and Censorship in America (Greenwood, 1997). He recently retired as Head of Branch Libraries at the University of Maryland, College Park and serves on the board of directors of the National Security Archives.
