JOHN BLOOM teaches American Studies at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. He is the author of several articles and books about sports and culture in the United States, including A House of Cards: Baseball Card Collecting and Popular Culture and To Show What an Indian Can Do: Sports at Indian Boarding Schools. He is also the co-editor, along with Michael Nevin Willard, of Sports Matters: Race, Recreation, and Culture.
