The Mrs. Phuddle series is absolutely charming. Lindy Stebbins writes the short and sweet chronicles of a not-so-elderly Mrs. Phuddle, a baker whose pies and cakes are revered in Doodleburg, Washington. Mrs. Phuddle is always finding out that even the best laid plans are subject to the whims of fate, thanks to testy friends, grouchy neighbors, inclement weather, banana slugs, and unexpected adventure. Gravity seems to get the better of Mrs. Phuddle quite often, but as long as her constant companion is by her side and savory teacakes are baking in the oven, she will be just fine.
