Donors share because they want to improve the world. This book equips nonprofit fundraisers to be the people who help donors make their dreams come true. Following the step-by-step approach offered in this book ensures that fundraising is fun, successful and satisfying for all involved. Equal parts fundraising philosophy and practical technique, this book clearly outlines the step-by-step practical methods and formulas needed to conduct donor-centric individual fundraising in a systematic way. It includes guidance for; Annual Fund, Major Gifts, Planned Gifts, Events, Campaigns, Goal Setting, Budgeting, Measuring Impact, Tracking Progress, Communicating Internally and Externally, Celebrating Success, as well as providing a philosophic overview that inspires us to be our best. Because Donors Want to Share also explains why we do the work of fundraising in a donor-centric way. Never boring, this approach provides a resource to the fundraiser who not only needs to design and implement a donor-centric individual fundraising effort but also needs to communicate the rational for such an effort to nonprofit leaders and volunteers who may not be familiar with donor-centric fundraising. This book covers both the why and how of fundraising. Topics include:
How do you create a healthy Annual Fund that will provide the financial support your agency needs every year without stress?
Who do you identify as prospective donors, how and when do you communicate with them?
How do you identify one type of donor from another and how should you communicate with different donor types?
How do you identify real major gift prospects from your Annual Fund?
After Major Gift prospects are identified, then what?
What are Planned Gifts and when are they the best choice?
How do you set realistic, exciting, measurable and achievable fundraising goals?
How do you connect your fundraising plan with your budget so that your agency is effective and efficient?
How do you know if your development staff is working effectively?
How can you measure the work of your nonprofit's fundraising staff and volunteers in a donor-centric way?
What policies does your nonprofit need to be donor-centric in its fundraising?
This book is a practical tool kit for fundraisers, nonprofit board members, executive directors, and anyone who wishes to raise funds from individual donors by helping each donor have his or her maximum philanthropic impact.
