When thirteen year old Willow Reed moves to Northern California, she must leave her old life behind and start all over again. New friends, new school, new house, but all she really wants is to be back in Oregon. After a tragic fall that will leave her injured for months, she does exactly what the paramedics told her not to do: run through the forest after her three year old sister, Lila. When Lila finds a poisoned animal in the forest and brings it home for her veterinarian father to cure, Willow realizes things aren't quite adding up. What she thinks will be a quick trip to the forest to answer her questions turns out to be an enthralling adventure.
