At the core of Ruth Mitchell's many pursuits, is an inquisitive mind and a great deal of energy. Her career as a writer has been powered by her love of language and the stories of people and places. Ruth spent two decades writing for magazines with an emphasis on travel and art. She has been published in Art & Antiques, the San Francisco Bay Guardian, American History, Fodor's USA Travel Guide, Watercolor magazine, American Style, Niche, Wedding Dresses, Southern Bride, Active Years and Sailing magazines. Ruth interviewed world-renowned architect Cesar Pelli for Echoes magazine; wrote an article on early aviatrixes, Louise Thaden and Amelia Earhart, for American History magazine as well as many travel articles on Europe, the Bahamas, San Francisco, Antigua, and Napa Valley for Romantic Destinations. Ruth has been editor of At Home in Arkansas and Special Publications Editor for Arkansas Business. In recent years. Ruth has turned to her strongest passion yet, fiction writing. She is the author of White Oak a novel based on life in the Ozark mountains. Ruth's second novel is a paranormal thriller titled Beyond: A Tale of Discovery on the other side of Life. Other publications include Living Happy Joyous and Free - available on Amazon, this compelling codependency handbook is a compilation of articles Ruth wrote for the Recovery newspaper. Ruth spent three years researching and writing a state-adopted history textbook for elementary education, Arkansas Heritage. It was used in the schools for ten years. - Ruth was hired as a writer and researcher to study "Successful Education Interventions in Arkansas" for the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, and contributed to the publication, Beyond the Barriers. In the 90's, Ruth became part owner in a fledgling "home" publication serving as editor of this widely praised regional magazine, At Home in Arkansas, and through her stewardship, the circulation was boosted in popularity through quality editorial content and artistic photographic images.
