Biomimetic Architectures by Plasma Processing: Fabrication and Applications
Editat de Surojit Chattopadhyayen Limba Engleză Hardback – 16 dec 2014
The book focuses mainly on plasma processing of biomimetic nanostructures and is, therefore, different from similar books that are more general in nature. It presents essential schematics, sufficient details, and advanced instrumentation techniques that would help readers understand why these structures are considered so important in materials science and physics.

Notă biografică
Surojit Chattopadhyay is associate professor at the Institute of Biophotonics, National Yang Ming University, Taiwan. He obtained his PhD in 1996 from Calcutta University, India, while working at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science. He has published around 70 publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including those in Nature Nanotechnology, Materials Science & Engineering R-Reports, Nano Letters, Physical Review, and Advanced Materials. His research interests include functional nanomaterials, biosensors, solar cells, semiconductor optoelectronics, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy, biomimetics, and related topics.
Recenzii
"Prof. Chattopadhyay has put together an excellent selection of chapters giving an overview of the most recent advances in the rapidly growing field of plasma processing as applied to biomimetics. As such, the book comprises contributions from internationally well-reputed researchers in the broad field of engineered biomimicry. It is remarkable that many practical applications in several fields are provided, including potential commercial applications."
—Prof. Raúl J. Martín-Palma, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain; The Pennsylvania State University, USA
"A systematic and comprehensive reference which covers the key aspects of biomimetic micro- and nanostructured materials fabricated using low-temperature plasmas, such as (i) how natural objects are designed to meet a specific function, (ii) deterministic design principles of bio-inspired materials to meet the requirements in specific applications, and (iii) guiding principles for the plasma process development to produce such materials. This work provides the most essential knowledge and further reading for all levels from undergraduate research projects to advanced fundamental and industry-oriented research."

Descriere
This book focuses on plasma processing of biomimetic nanostructures and, therefore, is different from the other available books of similar nature that are more general. The theoretical description provided in the book helps readers understand why and how these structures so important in materials science and physics. Essential schematics are provided for ease of understanding of the student community. Sufficient details and advanced instrumentation techniques have been discussed for the benefit of researchers and to increase the acceptability of the book among the wider scientific community.
