Bionanotechnology in Cancer: Diagnosis and Therapy
Editat de D. Sakthi Kumar, Aswathy Ravindran Girijaen Limba Engleză Hardback – 27 oct 2022
The book is organized into two sections. The section on nanodiagnostics focuses on topics such as diagnostic methods in cancer-related therapy and use of radiolabeled nanoparticles, magnetic nanoparticles, acoustically reflective nanoparticles, X-ray computed tomography, and optical nanoprobes for diagnosis. The section on nanotherapy focuses on nanomaterials in chemotherapy, magnetic nanoparticles for hyperthermia against cancer, phototherapy, nanotechnology-mediated radiation therapy, nanoparticle-mediated small-RNA deliveries for molecular therapies, and theranostics. The book will serve as the gateway to enter the beautiful and elegant field of bionanoscience, which is considered the last hope for the fight against cancer and will be a highly useful resource for the students, researchers, teachers, and curious readers working in this field or related fields.

Academic and Professional Practice & DevelopmentNotă biografică
D. Sakthi Kumar is deputy director of Bio Nano Electronics Research Centre (BNERC) and professor in the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary New Science, Toyo University, Japan. He is interested in developing bionano devices and nanodrugs to fight cancers, organs on a chip, application of artificial intelligence in the bionano field, biomaterials, scaffolds for implantations, bio/chemical/optical sensors, nanobio imaging materials, quantum dots, and solar cells. Prof. Kumar has published more than 150 peer-reviewed research articles in international journals, has edited several books and published many book chapters, and owns 8 patents. He has delivered many plenary talks, invited talks, and tutorial talks at international seminars. For his work in biopolymers, the Society of Polymer Science, Japan, honored him with the Asia Excellence Award in 2012. Prof. Kumar is also an editorial board member of Scientific Reports.
Aswathy Ravindran Girija is a research fellow at Future Industries Research Institute, University of South Australia, Australia. She holds a PhD in life science (specialization in bionano science fusion) from Toyo University, Japan. Before moving to Australia, she was working as a post-doctoral researcher at BNERC. Dr Girija’s interdisciplinary research has focused on the development and application of biocompatible nanomaterials for theragnostic (therapeutic and diagnostic) application in cancer nanotechnology. She is an enthusiastic bionano science fusion expert with postdoctoral experience and extensive hands-on skills in nanotechnology (nanomaterials synthesis and characterization), targeted drug delivery in cancer cells, imaging cancer cells with contrast agents, development of nano-nutraceuticals, biomaterials (fabrication of nanofibers by electrospinning for wound healing), and microbial technology.
