In 1783, a slave ship named Kindi sets sail from Africa, on a voyage to Barbados. Its cargo was human freight, consisting of 500 men, packed like sardines and shackled like cattle. They were frightened, alienated and unsure what the future had in store for them. Two brothers were among the quivering masses, Elijah and Mathias Mtumba, and this is their story as they battled bravely to survive the horrors of the slave trade.
