Gagik Ayvazyan, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Supervisor of the Scientific Laboratory at the National Polytechnic University of Armenia. Dr. Ayvazyan has worked as a technical manager in the mass production of semiconductor power transistors and diodes. He specializes in the field of defect engineering in microelectronics, silicon-based solar cells, and sensors. His research interests are focused on the structural, optical, and sensing properties of nanostructured (porous, black) silicon.

The book systematically accounts for the scientific and technological problems of nanostructured silicon in the form of porous and black silicon. Nanostructured silicon is currently a pioneer research topic worldwide due to its enormous potential applications for modern electronic devices, such as sensitive photodetectors, solar cells, biochemical sensors, hydrogen generators, and display devices.
