Book 1 of the Swordmasters series. As Swordmaster Captain, Weyrn the Linnet is responsible for maintaining the delicate balance between the Mixed-blooded elves of Duamelti and their neighbours, the pure-blooded Valley-elves. Unfortunately, in order to do that he must also handle opposition from the surrounding Mixed-blooded tribes and neighbouring humans as well as the challenges of raising his young son.
