Body Language
Autor Michael Bradberryen Limba Engleză Paperback – 16 oct 2020
As far as we can tell, human beings are the only creatures alive on this planet that truly have this ability. This incredible skill gave humans the advantage that put-us-on-top and, if measured in evolutionary timescale, it's brand new.
When we talk about body language we look at the subtle cues we send and receive to each other nonverbally. Many people want to know how to read body language. To get started, body language can be broken down into a few different channels:
- Face expression
- Eye contact
- Gestures
- Postures and movements
- Proximity and distance
- Physical contact
- Looks
In general, nonverbal signals in human communication can serve various functions
- Expressing emotions
- Showing attitudes towards dialogue partners (e.g. friendly/hostile, dominant/submissive)
- Expression of the personality (How do I want to appear?)
- Additional information in verbal communication
- Social commitment (e.g. rituals in sports and cultural events)
- Influence and manipulation
By better understanding these nonverbal signals, you will gain an insight into what they're really thinking. You will also put yourself across with more clarity.
Get ahead by knowing when to mirror, when to nod, and when someone is putting up their barriers. What's in a handshake, and what's not? Tread carefully, though Body language can be a minefield. If you misinterpret, you could find yourself in hot water.
