Notă biografică
Maria Luisa Brandi MD is a Full Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Florence Medical School, Florence, Italy. In addition, since 1990 she has been Director of the Regional Center on Hereditary Endocrine Tumors, University Hospital of Florence. Prof. Brandi has won many honors and awards, and is a Past President of SIOMMMS (the Italian Society of Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Diseases), General Secretary of ESCEO, and Executive Director of the OrtoMed Society. In her role as President of FIRMO, Professor Brandi has shown great commitment to public education and outreach in Italy, also on behalf of the IOF and World Osteoporosis Day. She currently serves on the editorial boards of various major scientific journals and as Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Cases in Bone and Mineral Metabolism. Prof. Brandi has published more than 600 papers in peer-reviewed journals and 250 book chapters.
Aliya Khan is a Professor of Clinical Medicine, Divisions of Endocrinology and Metabolism and Geriatrics at McMaster University , Director of the Calcium Disorders Clinic and Director of the Fellowship program in Metabolic Bone Disease at McMaster University. She has authored over 200 scientific publications and numerous book chapters. She is the Editor of the Handbook of Parathyroid Diseases. She led the development of the international standards paper on hypoparathyroidism as well as the Canadian position paper on the management of primary hyperparathyroidism in conjunction with the National Institutes of Health (NIH). She co-chaired international workshops on primary hyperparathyroidism as well as hypoparathyroidism in addition to the International Osteonecrosis of the Jaw Task Force. Prof. Khan is an editorial board member and reviewer for numerous medical journals. She is the Chair of the Rapid Response Committee of Osteoporosis Canada and a Scientific Advisor of the International Osteoporosis Foundation . Dr. Khan has received numerous national and international awards including The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for 2012 for excellence in clinical care, research and teaching as well as the International Hypoparathyroidism Award for 2014 and the International Osteoporosis Foundation award for publishing excellence in 2017.
