70-YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF A PREEMINENT INSTITUTION: The UBC Faculty of Medicine is now one of North America's largest medical schools, and world-renowned for its research and teaching. This is the first book telling the story of its origins and growth -- and looking into the future of medicine. It offers valuable insight to other medical schools looking to expand. The faculty will be celebrating its 70-year anniversary July 2020-July 2021.

FULLY SUPPORTED BY THE FACULTY: The book began as a passion project of two former deans of the faculty, John Cairns and Gavin Stuart, and their colleague and friend David Ostrow, former CEO of Vancouver Coastal Health. Among them they have tremendous contacts throughout B.C.'s medical community, and beyond. The book has the full backing of the Faculty of Medicine, whose communications officer will help to promote the book and ultimately use it as a giveaway to visitors and potential donors.

A RICHLY PRODUCED BOOK: This is a four-colour, fully illustrated and photographed volume that will make a perfect gift for alumni and students at UBC's Faculty of Medicine. There are currently 4,000 to 5,000 living graduates who might be interested in the book, with an additional 300+ new graduates a year, plus faculty and guests to the school.
