Sophie, a smart and resourceful seventeen year old, is barely managing to keep a step ahead of the school bully and she talks Gia into helping her learn how to defend herself. It is something Gia is more than equipped to handle. As an athlete and trained kickboxer, she encourages Sophie and takes her under her wing. When Gia meets Sophie's father, Jackson, a handsome musician, goofball, and widower, there is an instant attraction but she is leery of getting into another relationship. The men in her life can't handle her competitive spirit and she's grown weary of messing with them. Sophie has other ideas.
