CALEB TRAVELS TO BETHLEHEM tells the story of the first Christmas from the viewpoint of a little mouse, Caleb, who is usually hungry and always curious. While Joseph is packing the saddlebag with provisions, curious Caleb looks for food and climbs into the saddlebag on the donkey Mary will ride to Bethlehem. Caleb can't get out before the donkey heads down the road with Joseph and Mary, and so begins the greatest adventure of his young life. As they travel along the hot and dusty roads, Caleb comes to know Mary and Joseph by watching and listening to them as they all make their way to Bethlehem. When they finally arrive, he discovers he has family in the very stable where they spend the night. The mice help him to understand where he is and why the evening's events are so important. He has a front row seat as he watches the entire Christmas story unfold. He witnesses the Shepherds and the Wise Men who come to see the Christ Child. In the end, he decides to stay in Bethlehem with his family as Mary and Joseph continue their journey to Egypt.
