Call of the Tree: The Faithwalker Series, Book I

Autor Darryl Markowitz
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 31 iul 2008
CALL OF THE TREE Today's political and religious strife have torn our world apart but the new country with no name vowed to punish and stamp out anyone holding the 'old' ways that caused the world's destruction. But one-hundred years later, teenagers Stephanie and Vaughn can't help challenging everything about their corrupt surroundings, unaware that they are involved in a plot that extends far beyond their little town, their country with no name, and even the world as they know it. Stephanie sees transparent gray arms reaching inside people's heads and Vaughn's vision of a blackness blowing people up from the inside-out leaves him wondering. What is a faithwalker? Potentially the most powerful person alive -- Earth's only hope against the coming evils, that is, if they survive the terrible hardships into which they are always born. Faith in ones abilities, faith in a mere goodness beyond, faith in a friend. they will need all of that and more to keep from dying. ............................................................................. Call of the Tree- One of five semi-finalists in Reader Views 2007 Literary Awards for Teen Fiction Paige Lovitt -- Call of the Tree is a great thought- provoking novel. I really look forward to reading future books in this series. .................................... Ray -- 16 yrs old Your book's got that realism that not only makes you want to keep reading it, but gets you thinking about what the characters are saying and thinking. Actually, I think reading your book(s) and Orwell's 1984 together could be beneficial to people; they're a great match. Both of them show the importance of thinking. Bottom line I guess is that even though 1984's a great book, Call of the Tree's just... more fun to read Because the situation it describes is NOT hopeless. Call of the Tree already has everything 1984 did and so much more. .................................... Janet - adult reading your book; took me about 12 hours. mmmmmmmmmm very thoughtful, deep sensitive . COULDN'T PUT IT DOWN, HA You really are an awesome and talented writer. Did you know Frank Peretti books? I don't elevate just any author to that level; nor do I just spend an entire evening with no sleep at all on just anyone's book. I'm eagerly anticipating the next book; may you sell a million ................................... Stephanie Ehmen, Author of Angels and Quilt Pieces I really enjoyed your book. I think it is exceptional. I found that it makes me think very deeply about each issue. I hope there will be some teachers, counselors, social workers, parents, etc who will be willing to read your book in order to gain a better understanding of the kids they work with.
