This book tells of a man's daily struggle after his diagnosis with cancer. His wife, the author, describes how she supported him, nursed him and fought for him like a lioness protecting her cubs, only to be thwarted by a freak event.

Jean Kirby is retired and lives in the North East of England. She was married for 38 years and has a beloved daughter Helen, who has been a strength to her throughout.
She enjoys reading, films, writing, painting, gardening and helping others. She started, and continues to run, a local Widows support group.
