Recenzii
'The timely arrival of this book enables it to make an important contribution to the CBT field for practitioners working with children. Nationally, there has been increasing emphasis on the need to support children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties with a need to train more professionals to work with them. This book provides a valuable resource for this purpose. It is neatly divided into 4 parts that places CBT with children into a wider context. A familiar model of problem formulation followed by an intervention plan will help practitioners develop their skills and benefit from the many practical suggestions contained in the text. Theory, referred to as the knowledge base; case examples; implications for practice; summaries and key points; suggestions for further reading; and, learning exercises all make this a book an excellent choice for learning to use CBT with children' -

'One of the real strengths of the book is that Fuggle and colleagues are honest about the kinds of dilemmas and challenges that are likely to arise in adapting CBT techniques developed for adults to work with children and young people, and they emphasise the ways in which systematic practice (with parents/carers and school staff being recruited as co-therapists where appropriate) is likely to be important, if not critical, for successful outcomes. Overall, I found this to be an engaging and thought-provoking text that, while not straightforwardly offering a how-to, recipe book approach, should nonetheless prove practically useful in everyday clinical work for those who take the time to read it through'
It is a whistlestop tour covering a wide range of topics. However, there are plenty of references for further reading. The book could be helpful as an introduction to the basic CBT skills.
