William E. Griffith is Ford Professor of Political Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is the author and editor of many books and articles on Europe and the Communist world; his most recent book is Superpowers and Regional Tensions: The USSR, The United States, and Europe (1981). He is an expert in Communist and international affairs.
