Chad's Triumph: The Chad Green Story

Autor Diana J. Meyer
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 6 oct 2018
When most people remember Chad Green, they think of things like: a legal battle between the state and the parents, or a sickly leukemic child being whisked off to Mexico for some questionable treatment. It's been over thirty-five years since Chad died in a small apartment in Playas-de-Tijuana, Mexico, and many will not remember him at all. Like most mothers, I have fond memories of a precious blonde-haired boy ... in many ways like other boys. Yet, in some special ways, he was quite different.I believe God gives an age of wisdom and a glimpse of eternity to those small brave creatures we call, children with a terminal illness. While their peers are learning to talk and to play, these little souls look deep inside the eyes of the adults entrusted to care for them. Intermittently on diverse occasions, the child whispers something that is unlearned and only spiritually comprehended. These words leave a troubled parent in awe, and yet, it causes them to search their own hearts for the certainty that this child already has and fully accepts concerning eternity.I've started to write about Chad many times. It's of utmost importance to me not only to give an accurate account of factual events and dates, but also to enable others to see Chad not just as a cause or a newspaper story; he is a brother in arms to all children who suffer with an incurable disease. I'm asking God to bring out of the story of Chad's brief life whatever gives glory to him, and comfort and encouragement to others. I hope to portray my first son as a very real little boy who knew, and recognized, the intervention and the presence of a living, sovereign God woven through the crisis, heartache, suffering, and joy of his three and a half years on planet earth. Although much of what Chad could perceive about God was taught to him through his custodians and his caregivers, there were numerous conversations where his engaging, childlike speech spoke more to us about the Creator than we ever demonstrated to him.Diana J. Meyer, the mother of Chad Green, dramatically portrays the epic saga of her journey to help her son defeat leukemia, the courts, and the media in her new book, "Chad's Triumph". Walk with her through the lonely hospital corridors; witness the firsthand views expressed during the closed-door hearings and escape a profound court ruling on a night flight to a foreign country. Chad Green's life span was less than four years, and yet, the Green's case that made national headlines was heralded as the most famous parental rights case in recent history. Throughout this rendition of illness, court hearings, press coverage, rallies, marital unfaithfulness, and Chad's untimely death, God shows Himself to be strong and ultimately sovereign. "Chad's Triumph" highlights the confrontations and battles that are common to all of us with a passion and integrity that will encourage others to walk in triumph.Chad's Triumph is a mother's heartfelt and inspiring account of one of the most compelling medical dramas of all time: the struggle to save the life of young Chad Green. I was there, covering Chad's story as it unfolded in the national news spotlight. Years later now, Diana Meyer brings it all back to life, in a book that is richly detailed and beautifully informed by the author's faith, life experiences, and fresh insights. It is a loving mother's story for the ages, which I found impossible to put down. I expect it to touch and inform not only other parents, but everyone who is trying to better understand the big picture that surrounds us. In particular, Chad's Triumph reveals how faith in God can help us find the courage to face life's most difficult challenges and how belief in our Creator goes hand in hand with man's deepest search for meaning and freedom.
