Notă biografică

John G. Galaty is Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology at McGill University and serves as Secretary of the Commission on Nomadic Peoples of the I.U.A.E.S. he received his Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1977, after carrying out research among the Maasai pastoralists of Kenya. His primary interests are in the symbolic and ideological aspects of pastoral society and processes of change and development.

Philip Carl Salzman is Professor of Anthropology at McGill University, and Chairman of the Commission on Nomadic Peoples of the I.U.AE.S. He received his Ph.D. degree in Anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1972. He has carried out research among the Baluch of Iran, and he is interested in political, ecological and ideological aspects of nomadic society.
