Following Christ's call to Panama
There are currently over four hundred Foursquare churches in Panama--and it al began because Arthur and Edith Edwards left their home in northern California in obedience to the call God had on their lives.
Leland Edwards, the son of that pioneer missionary couple, tells his family's fascinating account in Chasing the Vision. Edwards recounts the journey of moving from the U.S. to Panama with his family as a young boy, then growing up to serve God in a missionary capacity.
Eventually taking over his parent's post as supervisors of the Panama field and going on to become the director of Foursquare Missions International, Edwards accounts highlights from along his journey, including touching stories of miraculous healings and people coming to faith.
Leland Edwards, the youngest son of pioneer missionaries to the nation of Panama, was appointed a Foursquare missionary at the age of seventeen. In addition to pasturing the First Foursquare Church in Panama City for many years, Leland and his wife, Barbara, supervised the Panama Field. During that time the work expanded to over 200 churches. In February 1950, Leland was appointed as assistant director of Foursquare Missions and five years later, the director of Foursquare Missions and member of the denomination's board of directors until 1988. He also represented the Foursquare Church on many interdenominational committees and was greatly instrumental in the worldwide growth of the gospel. The Edwardses have two married sons, and they are grandparents and great-grandparents. They reside in Lancaster, California.
Ron Williams served the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel as a church planter, pastor, missionary to Hong Kong, Bible college professor, and as editor of the Foursquare World "ADVANCE." He currently serves as the historian for the Foursquare Church, and he and his wife, Carole, reside in Bodfish, California.
