Harvey Pitcher's previous works include the seminal The Chekhov Play: A New Interpretation, Chekhov's Leading Lady and Chekhov: The Early Stories (co-translated with Patrick Miles). After graduating from St John's College, Oxford, he started the Russian Department at St Andrews University. A lifelong Chekhov enthusiast who is now regarded as the leading translator of Chekhov's literary works, he is now a full-time writer and lives in Norfolk.
