Notă biografică

Born in Shanghai in 1926, Zhou Chun was from 1949-55 first interpreter for German in the foreign ministry of the People's Republic of China. He did simultaneous translation for Mao and Zhou Enlai among others. From then until 1957 he worked as an editor for German literature. After being labeled a "rightist", he spent the years 1957-79 in prison and banishment. Once rehabilitated in 1979, he was appointed first director of the Research Seminar for Comparative Literature at Shanghai. From 1988 to 2002 he worked as a visiting professor, journalist and author in Germany. In 2002 he returned to China.
