STEVE BRAUNIAS is the literary editor of Newsroom's books section Reading Room and a staff writer at the New Zealand Herald. He has won over 40 national writing awards, including The New Zealand Post Book Award for Non-fiction, the Buddle Finlay Sargeson Fellowship and the Copyright Licensing Limited New Zealand Writers ' Award, and been awarded fellowships to Oxford and Cambridge Universities. He is the author of 11 books, including How to Watch a Bird, Civilisation: Twenty Places on the Edge of the World, Roosters I Have Known, Fish of the Week, Smoking in Antarctica, The Man Who Ate Lincoln Road and Cover Story: 100 Beautiful, Strange and Frankly Incredible New Zealand LP Covers.
