Notă biografică

Thomas L Husted, MD is a Surgical Resident in Critical Care Medicine, and Clinical Lecturer, in the Department of Surgery, at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, USA. He obtained his bachelor degree at the University of Michigan, and completed his medical training at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Michigan, USA. Following this, he undertook an internship in general surgery at the University of California, USA, before joining the US Navy. After completing his service, he began a surgical residency at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He has also been a research fellow at The Laboratory of Trauma, Sepsis & Inflammation Research, and a fellow in surgical critical care at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dr Husted has authored and contributed to a number of books, and peer-reviewed journals. He is also a member of the American College of Surgeons, the Association for Academic Surgery, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
Hannes Wacha, MD is Professor of Surgery, and Clinical Lecturer in theDepartment of Surgery, at the Hospital zum heiligen Geist of the University of Frankfurt, Academic Hospital of the University of Frankfurt, Germany. He is also Head of the Department of General Surgery, which includes the Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery Unit, at the Hospital zum heiligen Geist. He completed his medical training in 1968, and subsequently took up a number of clinical posts at several institutions, including the Institute of Pathology, Departments of Thoracic & Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, and Trauma, at Northwest Hospital, Frankfurt, Germany, and the Clinic of Internal Medicine at the Holy Spirit Hospital of Frankfurt. Following this, he took up a teaching post at the University of Frankfurt, which he currently holds. He subsequently became Professor of Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the Hospital zum heiligen Geist, a position he has held for over 20 years.
Joseph S Solomkin, MD is Professor of Surgery and Director of Research in the Division of Trauma and Critical Care at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Cincinnati, USA. After graduating from Harvard College, Massachusetts, USA, and completing medical school and an internship at The Albert Einstein College of Medicine - Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, New York, USA, he went into the US Army Medical Corps. After his service he completed a surgical residency at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, USA (1973), serving as Associate and Chief Resident from 1977–1979. Following work at Piper Memorial Hospital in Zaire, Professor Solomkin had a fellowship in surgical infectious diseases at the University of Minnesota. He has been Assistant and Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine (1981–1994).
