German nutrition scientists were often able to resume their research started in the "Third Reich" after 1945. One example for this is Konrad Lang (1898-1985), who started his second career in the early federal republic of Germany not only as a professor of medicine and biological chemistry at the university but also a policy advisor and member of numerous industrially relevant commissions and societies. Whether the hunger crisis in the first years after WWII, the discussions about purity of food in a consumer society or the public image of his discipline in the beginning of media age: Konrad Lang provided an imporant contibution to the development of nutrition science in the early federal republic of Germany by focussing not only on scientific positions but also by doing lobby work.
