Has Enhanced the way I work. Thank you. I found your book really useful and it has changed some of the ways that I help my patients. Not to mention a little MOT on myself once in a while. An Excellent and helpful book. Psychotherapy Without a Psychotherapist Can something so simple as reading a book possibly cure depression? Studies testing the effectiveness of CBT self-help books as a stand-alone treatment say: YES. Trials show that people get less depressed after reading one and a three-year follow-up indicates the benefits are long-lasting. In the UK, securing an appointment with an NHS therapist can take up to two years. Why wait? For people mildly-moderately depressed, working through the exercises in this book can be a reasonable alternative to psychotherapy. The best CBT guide yet! I have just finished reading this book and it is a great read. I have read a few books on the subject of CBT and this one is by far the best. This book is exactly what it says it is, "a tool kit with all the essentials you need to use CBT successfully". It is very well written and easy to understand. It breaks CBT down into manageable chunks so that you can work through the book at your own speed. It Works! Whether you decide to use this book as your own personal guide toward mental wellness, or to find a therapist, it's a worthwhile endeavor. In the first instance, it has clearly defined methods you can use on your own. In the second, it presents talking points and research to use in your search for a professional. It's an essential manual that explores a wide scope of the possibilities of achieving mental health. Delivers on Promise It's rare to find a book that delivers what it promises. Sara Pascoe's book does exactly that, and does it well. Written in an appealing and attractive style with lots of easy to understand examples, the book guides you through steps you can take to overcome depression or anxiety to gain control of your life. Truly, "a user's manual for your emotions." An Empowering Book Sara Pascoe takes the "scary" out of dealing with mental illness. Her easy to understand explanations of how the brain functions and step by step instructions for wellness are backed by research references, without once slowing down the pace of the book. Best of all, Pascoe offers reassurance and hope, rare and valuable commodities for people coping with their own or a family member's mental illness. A truly empowering tool, and indeed, an Essential Guide. Essential Guide fo
