Cognitive Psychology: Advanced Psychology Text Series
Autor Ronald T. Kelloggen Limba Engleză Electronic book text – 30 mar 2014
`Kellogg's textbook provides outstanding coverage of contemporary cognitive psychology. I especially welcomed chapters on Cognitive Neuroscience, providing neural underpinnings of cognition, and Intelligence. The latter topic is rarely included in books on cognition because the study of intelligence developed in a somewhat separate tradition from experimental cognitive psychology. Yet clearly intelligence should be considered as part of cognitive psychology, too. The coverage in the book is comprehensive and authoritative, but the chapters I read are also quite interesting and accessible. This book should be widely used as a text and a reference work' -Henry L Roediger, III

As with his best-sellingFirst Edition, Ronald T. Kellogg seeks to provide students with a synthesis of cognitive psychology at its best, encapsulating relevant background, theory, and research within each chapter. Understanding cognitive psychology now requires a deeper understanding of the brain than was true in the past. In his thoroughly revisedSecond Edition, the author highlights the tremendous contributions from the neurosciences, most notably neuroimaging, in recent years and approaches cognition in the context of both its development and its biological, bodily substrate.
AnInstructor's Manual on CD-ROMis available to qualified adopters.

Recenzii
`An excellent example of an up-to-date text, and well worth exploring... detailed and thorough' - Physiotherapy
`The author has done an outstanding job of presenting in a coherent way what has become a very diverse and sometimes theoretically dense field of psychology... there's an excellent balance between anecdote, empirical research and theoretical stories' - Ira Fischler, University of Florida, Gainsville
`The text is very well-written, current, comprehensive and does an excellent job of exploring concepts in the context of experimental tasks used to study them without becoming so detailed that students are distracted from the main point and tempted to memorize "facts". In sum, the material is extremely well presented at a conceptual level appropriate to the student interested in what scientific studies of cognitive processes have revealed about topics relevant to everyday life' - James I Chumbley, University of Massachusetts, Amherst
