Continental Drift

Autor Nancy Gaffield
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 14 apr 2014
Continental Drift is a book about place, about the attachments and appropriations that shape our relationship with the land. Transcending the border of country and continent, these poems search out ways that language balances the demands of location. This is a poetry of shifting localities and the forces that make them.

Nancy Gaffield's first collection of poetry, Tokaido Road, was published in 2011, and was a Poetry Book Society Recommendation, nominated for the Forward First Collection Prize, and awarded the Aldeburgh First Collection Prize. She is also recent recipient of a Templar Poetry Pamphlet Award for Owhere, published by Templar Poetry in 2012. Continental Drift is her third collection. Nancy has worked with composer Nicola LeFanu to adapt the Tokaido Road poems into a libretto; the opera, featuring Okeanos Ensemble and Caroline Clegg as director, receives its premiere at the Cheltenham Music Festival in July 2014.
