His Irish and English grandparents had migrated west before the Civil War. His Mexican grandfather was living in Tucson in Territorial days. They were a recorded part of Tucson's history. His induction into the Marines introduced him to his own adventures. Joyce, nick-named Colorado, shares her experiences that will make you laugh and cry as she is immersed in another culture and is considered a foreigner. She later laughs when Corky becomes a foreigner in New Hampshire. Anyone who leaves or dreams of leaving their homes seeking adventure, will identify with Joyce and Colorado and their families.
