Correlational Study of Life Satisfaction and Hopelessness among Adults

The present study aimed at exploring the relationship between hopelessness, and life satisfaction among adults. Sample of the study consisted of 300 people (adult men (142), women (158) from four different cities of Pakistan. Their age ranged between 18 to 40 years and all of them were employed. Their education was at least intermediate and above. For the present study measurements of hopelessness was done with Beck Hopelessness Scale (Beck, Lester, & Trexler 1974), and life satisfaction with life satisfaction Scale (Diener, 1985). Over all the results indicate that adult men experience higher level of hopelessness, and life satisfaction as compared to adult women. Marital status has also impact on hopelessness. Whereas married adults have non-significant difference on life satisfaction then unmarried adults. Employed adults have significant difference on hopelessness and satisfaction with life as compared to unemployed adults whereas meaning in life remains equal in both adult life.

She completed her M.Sc. in Psychological Research from the University of Sheffield. - Maddy Malhotra studied Psychotherapy at the University of Oxford. He has trained as an NLP Practitioner, Life Coach, Hypnotherapist and Time Line Therapist.
