Rachel is a beautiful naval officer prepared to begin a new role commanding a large organization of recruiters when her doorbell rings. When she opens the door and thinks she is greeting her commander, he informs her he is really Bruce Prescott, an FBI agent in the middle of a sting operation. Even more surprising, Bruce reveals he is in love with her.

Conrad Cooper, a graduate of Annapolis Naval Academy, is attempting to move on after buying marijuana from a lieutenant and becoming a victim of exposure. Now a United States Marines Corps lieutenant, Conrad is in command of a special detachment of soldiers who are masters of looking, speaking, and acting like insurgents. As Conrad's company prepares for a raid in the Middle East, Rachel's musically talented brother, Josh, returns home from Europe to create a fifteen-piece orchestra. As Conrad, Rachel, Bruce, and Josh all attempt to embark on new beginnings, they soon realize that nothing in life is ever easy.
