"As a teacher-leader, I recommend Vicki Spandel's materials to fellow teachers, local, county, and state administrators, college professors, and student teachers. Her books, teaching guides, and podcasts never fail to impress educators from a wide variety of backgrounds and experience. Can you teach third graders to revise? Yes–provided the revision lessons are designed especially for them. The 15 revision lessons and 15 editing lessons stress a process approach that focuses on one kind of problem at a time, making revision a manageable skill for second graders at all ability levels. Clear illustrations and step-by-step instructions for each lesson show teachers precisely what writing skill to focus on–how to introduce it, present it, and reinforce it in future writing.

“As always, Spandel’s style is knowledgeable, personable, and to-the-point. The lessons are outstanding and perfectly on target for third graders. She does an excellent job of speaking to all teachers, from newbie to veteran.”
–Judy Mazur, Buena Vista Elementary, Walnut Creek, California

“This text addresses an important step in writing that has been sorely lacking in current teaching materials. The content and length of each lesson is teacher-and student-friendly [and] my students found the examples to be interesting and enjoyed revising them.”
–Deborah Monroe, Bluffsview Elementary, Columbus, Ohio
