This is a not-quite-conventional look at lettering for anyone of almostany age, who has a passing interest in letterforms. They may be youngor older, newcomers or experienced calligraphers, teachers or artistsfrom other disciplines. The idea is to move away from the moreobviously pretty aspects of hobby calligraphy to experiments usingprincipally capital letters as patterns, texture or explosions ofcolour to give a much more general artistic and creative appeal. It isalso about learning the skill of careful observation to see what isactually there in terms of letter shapes, not what you think or assumethe shapes to be, learning the rules and then knowing how to bend themto suit your purpose.
