Karen Perdue has always dreamed of dead people. When she was seven years old, the first spirit came begging for help and by the age of twelve, her parents institutionalized her. No one ever understood what she was going through and while the doctors couldn't cure her, they taught her to keep such episodes to herself.

Now a successful artist, she has embraced what mental health could not stamp out, quietly helping souls move on to the afterlife. But even accepting her fate has not made her immune to the twisted designs of the universe. When a powerful being two hundred years in her grave interrupts Karen's sleep, she's thrust into a world of magic and other planes, of possession and the esoteric quest of a mad scientist.
