EUGENIA KALEDIN is an independent scholar. She is the author of Mothers and More: American Women in the 1950's (1984) and The Education of Mrs. Henry Adams (1994). She has been a Fulbright Professor in China and in Czechoslovakia and is currently teaching at the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement.
