"Daiwi" chronicles the journey of a man from the comfort of a New York City highrise to a sandbag refuge amid enemy fire on a Laotian mountaintop, to the jungles of Vietnam and to behind enemy lines in Cambodia and Laos via Dartmouth and the United States Military Academy. Ultimately, he reached the pinnacle of his military career as a Green Beret, and as a member of the elite and secret MACV/SOG. He returns to Vietnam 25 years post-war and is granted an interview with General Vo Nguyen Giap, the North Vietnamese General during the war and the mastermind of the TET offensive. Chuck describes his struggles with PTSD, his therapies, his personal life with movie stars and being the image of Winston Cigarette's international campaign, the loss of a son and his ultimate acceptance of life as it is. He questions if his life has been destiny or simply the choices he made.
