Some might call this book a dark comedy: To Eugene, a solicitor living in the outback in Australia, events took on a nightmarish quality after he and his wife became involved in a Nigerian oil project which promised him riches beyond his wildish dreams. After all, hadn't he read an old April 1996 issue of Time Magazine which states that 'corrupt government officials have siphoned off money from the refineries.' And he had the luck to run into one of these and I mean, was the offer illegal or not? However the trouble really started when one member of Eugene's family decided to hijack the scheme and this complication led to rape, violence and mahem.
