Seven papers discuss the building history and chronology of terrace house 2 (Hanghaus 2) at Ephesus. The house was originally believed to have been inhabited throughout the imperial Roman period until the early 7th century but new evidence indicates that it was destroyed by an earthquake between 250 and 275 AD. Contributors discuss each building phase, combining archaeological with historical evidence, the firm dating evidence offered by the graffiti on the wall-paintings and the sculptural remains.
