After taking centre stage for the Commonwealth Games, the Independence Referendum and the General Election, you'd think Glasgow would have been perfectly happy to slip into a quieter mode of existence. So, when what seems a fairly low-key comedy festival hurls the city back into the international spotlight with a spectacularly staged gruesome murder, involving a clown mask, a tammy, fake handcuffs and the traffic-cone topped giant statue of the Duke of Wellington in Glasgow city centre, Inspector Luke Tomlinson and his small band find themselves chasing shadows in what seems like a motiveless crime.
