Design and Architectures for Digital Signal Processing

Editat de Edvin Falk
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 2017
Digital signal processing (DSP) refers to various techniques for improving the accuracy and reliability of digital communications. The theory behind DSP is quite complex. Basically, DSP works by clarifying, or standardizing, the levels or states of a digital signal. ADSP circuit is able to differentiate between humanmade signals, which are orderly, and noise, which is inherently chaotic. Digital signal processing and analog signal processing are subfields of signal processing. DSP applications include audio and speech signal processing, sonar and radar signal processing, sensor array processing, spectral estimation, statistical signal processing, digital image processing, signal processing for communications, control of systems, biomedical signal processing, seismic data processing, among others. DSP algorithms have long been run on standard computers, as well as on specialized processors called digital signal processors, and on purpose-built hardware such as application-specific integrated circuit. Currently, there are additional technologies used for digital signal processing including more powerful general purpose microprocessors, field-programmable gate arrays, digital signal controllers (mostly for industrial applications such as motor control), and stream processors, among others. Digital signal processing can involve linear or nonlinear operations. Nonlinear signal processing is closely related to nonlinear system identification and can be implemented in the time, frequency, and spatio-temporal domains. The increasing use of computers has resulted in the increased use of, and need for, digital signal processing. Digital signal processing deals with a wide range of applications in which the implementation of high-performance systems to meet stringent requirements and performance constraints is receiving increasing attention both in the industrial and academic contexts. The purpose of this book entitled Design and Architectures for Digital Signal Processing is to deliver students, researchers, engineers and the industrial community with a guide to the latest advances in evolving concerns in the design and implementation of DSP systems for applicationspecific circuits and programmable devices.
