Deuteronomy in the New Testament: The New Testament and the Scriptures of Israel: The Library of New Testament Studies

Editat de Professor Steve Moyise, Prof Maarten J.J. Menken
en Limba Engleză Hardback – 18 sep 2007
Deuteronomy in the New Testament brings together a set of specially commissioned studies by authors who are experts in the field. After an introductory chapter on the use of Deuteronomy in the second temple literature, each of the New Testament books that contain quotations from Deuteronomy are discussed: Matthew, Mark, Luke-Acts, John, Romans & Galatians, 1 & 2 Corinthians, Hebrews, the Pastoral Epistles and Revelation. The book provides an overview of the status, role and function of Deuteronomy in the first century. It considers the Greek and Hebrew manuscript traditions and offers insights into the various hermeneutical stances of the New Testament authors and the development of New Testament theology.

Recenzii

Review in International Review of Biblical Studies, vol. 54:2007/08
Mentioned in Svensk Exegetisk Årsbok (Swedish Exegetical Yearbook), vol. 74 (2009)
"Each chapter in this book is a study by an expert in the field, which provides a clarifying overview of the role and function of Deuteronomy on Early Christianity...This is a valuable work for any New Testament scholar." - M. Du Toit (University of Pretoria), Neotestamentica 42.1, 2008
"The work in this volume is methodologically sophisticated and demonstrates that recently acquired knowledge of the hermeneutics of scriptural text-referencing is being put to good use...a pleasure to read, and I look forward with anticipation to other volumes in the series." - Michael A. Lyons, Assistant Professor of Old Testament at Simpson University, USA, August 2008
"...this is a helpful collection of essays that should assist in the evaluation of a number of issues in New Testament scholarship, not least the vexing questions pertaining to the reception of the law in early Christian theology and praxis. The editors and authors deserve our gratitude. We look forward to the next volume on the Minor Prophets in the New Testament; might we also hope for a volume on the other books of Torah?" - David Lincicum, Review of Biblical Literature, August 2008
