Penned across four decades, the collection explores compassion, attachment, impermanence, suffering and awareness, and captures some of his most profound yet approachable insights on how to live a mindful life.

William "Bill" P. Menza (1941 - 2015) was born north of Boston, Massachusetts and lived across the United States, most notably in Boston, northern Virginia, New Hampshire, and Florida. He held degrees in sociology and journalism and was a career civil servant in public health and safety. Throughout his life he dedicated his time and energies to reducing the suffering of others and was passionate about giving voice to the suffering of those denied a voice. A devoted student and instructor of Buddhism and meditation, he helped start and supported meditation groups in multiple states, and practiced with meditation groups in Florida, New England, and in the Washington, DC region. He was ordained as a Dharmacharya - a Dharma teacher - by Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh and given the name True Shore of Understanding.
