Maciej Mäolepszy is Professor of Polish Criminal Law at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) and the University of Zielona Góra. He studied law at the Viadrina and the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznä under a German-Polish dual degree programme (1992¿1997), followed by a bar training (1998¿2002). He obtained his doctoral degree in 2006 for a thesis on fines and suspended prison sentences in German and Polish criminal law. For this publication, he was awarded the Joachim Georg Darjes Prize in 2007. He received a postdoctoral lecturing qualification in 2013 for a habilitation thesis on the German and Polish culture of judicial interpretation and argumentation in criminal law.
