As a reference and resource for researchers, scientists, clinicians, medical researchers, engineers, mathematicians, statisticians, epidemiologists, and pharmacokineticists as well as many other readers who have particular interest in clinical applications and the interpretation of experimental data with mathematical models in order to efficiently solve differential equations; as a textbook for graduate–level courses for students studying applied mathematics, biomedical science and engineering (BMSE), biology, biophysics, biochemistry, medicine, and engineering; and academic and corporate libraries. Please note that this book addresses a broad spectrum of problems along with finding solutions to various differential equations models arising in biology, physiology, medicine, ophthalmology, anesthesiology, oncology, infectious diseases, biochemistry, biophysics, bio–dynamics, neuroscience, and engineering, to name a few; therefore, it has the potential to make a significant impact on the advancement of research in many fields. The book is not heavily mathematical, i.e. no proofs or theorems are presented, but rather is written in terms of detailed BMSE applications.Cuprins
Notă biografică
WILLIAM E. SCHIESSER, PHD, ScD (hon.) is Emeritus McCann Professor of Engineering and Professor of Mathematics at Lehigh University. The author or coauthor of thirteen books, Dr. Schiesser's research interests include numerical software; ordinary, differential algebraic, and partial differential equations; and computational mathematics.
Descriere
With a step-by-step approach to solving partial differential equations (PDEs), this book successfully applies computational techniques for solving real-world PDE problems that are found in a variety of fields, including chemistry, physics, biology, and physiology. It is suitable for graduate-level courses in mathematics, biology, and engineering.
