DINOTHAW

Autor Rose Elizabeth Siva
en Limba Engleză Paperback – 24 aug 2019
Josh travels to Antarctica with his father, Steve, to attempt to retrieve dinosaur bones recently discovered in a melting glacial cave. His previous experience exploring outback Queensland with his Grandfather on a hunt for dinosaur bones, and his involvement with a dinosaur dig in South Australia, convinces the scientific team leader he would be a useful addition to the team. Besides which Steve's skills are very much needed to ensure the expedition is a success, and he refuses to go without his son. Landing on the Antarctic ice in a small aeroplane is just the start of the adventure. The pressure is on to retrieve the bones as the weather closes in, and an accident on the ice almost spells disaster for the team. However, with the help of a Russian helicopter pilot they manage what seems to be impossible and load the bones onto a supply vessel, only to get trapped in a sea of ice. Will they be successful?

Notă biografică

Rose first became involved in working on dinosaur bones in Queensland in 2008. Since then she has qualified as an Honorary Technician with the Australian Age of Dinosaurs in Winton, and worked on the bones from a number of different dinosaurs found in the area. She has also extensively explored the 'dinosaur triangle' in Queensland taking in Hughenden, Richmond, and as far south as Eromanga where she spent time with staff at the Eromanga Natural History Museum, home of Cooper, who at that stage was the largest dinosaur found in Australia. This decade long interest has resulted in a number of children's books. Rose's extensive knowledge and experience in the field combined with her work experience in literary support for reading skills, particularly in the school environment, inspired her to write. This has resulted in a series of books written to engage younger readers in interesting, real life situations featuring dinosaurs. Although fiction, her books are based around actual situations with Australian dinosaurs. Rose's books are perfect for early independent readers of mid to late primary school age.
