Addiction is a virtual death in life. It is a preoccupation that keeps the hampster wheel spinning, but allows nobody to be home. It is generally lonely, despite co-conspirators. And kind-of marks the status quo of our solitary, cooperative journey on this planet, despite all appearances. It can be addiction to work. To people. To drugs. To hobbies. To televsion. It can come in any form where the occupation overtakes the spirit. Or hides it. It allows us to live behind a mask, alone or with others. And bide our years until actual death. And narily do we realize that it is even hapening. As our bodies are satisfied. And our minds. But not our souls or hearts. How do we get out of this. Be it to drugs, or anything else. This book leads one down a path of "emotional sobriety." It is not really about beating alcohol or drugs. At least only.
